DESCRIPTION:\nThe Estate Planning Council of Northern Nevada is introducing Lecture on Tap, a new event format designed to complement our traditional breakfast programs by offering education and connection in a more relaxed, social setting.\n \nJoin us for the first-ever Lecture on Tap on March 19 at Brasserie St. James. This event is open to EPCNN members and non-members and includes a hosted drink ticket and appetizers.\n \nLecture on Tap is designed for attorneys, CPAs, financial advisors, trust officers, and allied professionals who want meaningful conversation, fresh perspectives, and an easy opportunity to connect with peers outside of the morning schedule.\n \nPlease join us on March 19 at the Brasserie St. James for a community-based conversation and networking opportunity to hear our first speaker, Dr. Jeremy Smith.\n \nDr. Jeremy Smith is the Director of the Truckee Meadows Regional Planning Agency (“TMRPA”) and a Board member of One Truckee River.  He holds a PhD in Geography from the University of Colorado (CU) and received his Master and Bachelor of Science degrees in Geography from the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR).  His research interests are wide ranging and include biogeography, GIScience, forest ecology, climate change and urban/regional planning. Prior to joining TMRPA in 2011, Jeremy worked in both academic and professional settings. During his stint in Colorado, he was awarded for teaching efforts that spanned the department’s geographic information systems (GIS) curriculum. He also contributed GIS analysis and support for several studies funded by sources such as the United States Geological Survey, the National Science Foundation and the National Institutes of Health. \n \nBefore attending CU, Jeremy worked as project manager and as the operations manager for an office of over 25 GIS professionals creating geospatial data to support telecom engineering across California and Nevada.\n \nTMRPA was created by the Nevada Legislature almost 40 years ago to foster coordination among the three local governments: the cities of Reno and Sparks and Washoe County.  TMRPA is committed to supporting comprehensive and innovative approaches for economic development and community planning for the cities of Reno and Sparks, as well as Washoe County. In addition to facilitating land use, infrastructure provision and resource management conversations among public and private decision makers, TMRPA also serves as a collaborative information and data warehouse, coordinating regional data collection and delivering advanced geospatial analytics for regional solutions.  Recently TMPRA, through its governing board, adopted a Natural Resources Plan and Regional Trails Plan.  [https://www.tmrpa.org/nrplan/](https://www.tmrpa.org/nrplan/&)  &  https://tmrpa.org/truckee-meadows-trails/ \n \n \n \nTMRPA’s natural resources and trails work dovetails nicely into the work of the One Truckee River, a local non-profit organization that manages a coalition of public and private partners working together to ensure a healthy, thriving, and sustainable river connected to the heart and minds of its community.  The 121-mile Truckee River corridor is managed and regulated by many federal, state, local, and tribal authorities. One Truckee River coordinates collaborative projects, secures resources, and works with partners to support agencies, businesses, and the public in protecting the Truckee River - bridging the gaps between these groups.
